Strat, that's an ok interview but check out this from 1994 which is much more in depth and interesting.

I love Garcia's style...oh no man not that question again... then off he goes for 15 minutes on each topic.

At around 42:00 "I play for my life".

At 42:30 he talks about rap music. Never knew he had talked about that before.
Interesting that he observes that one can always get better at music, but questions whether or not rap has 'that kind of space.'
He often talked like he played- fluidly and eloquently imo.

yeah I watched that one too, I believe it was poted not too long ago...it's amazing how much more vibrant/ less weary he seemed in 1991 as compared to 1994...

He is likely doing lines during the reel changes...Nonetheless, I never get tired of listening to him tell stories

It is remarkable how much he seems to have physically deteriorated between 1991-95. Even in the '94 interview he seems in substantially better shape than in this one from '95: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xo2E_n27WjQ. Rather freaky that he jokes about dying only a few months before he does. If only he HAD given up drugs (and smoking for that matter) in by '91 as that interviewer claims. Perhaps he'd still be around. So sad.

I love the dead paddling a sinking canoe clip. Never seen that one.

It's from a film made in '68- they're on the Russian River.

When the filmmaker, perhaps in need of the cash, approached the Dead to see if they wanted the film for their archives (this was the early 90s I believe) Jerry asked him how much he wanted, then sent him a check for twice the agreed upon figure.
